Can we fix damaged jewellery?
Many people have pieces of jewellery stored in their jewellery box that unfortunately have broken and are believed to be beyond repair but are in fact reparable! Our staff are happy to discuss the options with you, whether it is to repair, replicate or remodel. We have talented goldsmiths who can provide a free no obligation quote to repair your jewellery.
What can we repair?
Our team are highly skilled in repairing any broken jewellery, from earrings to rings. They are fully qualified in re-sizing rings, re-clawing, re-tipping and setting stones. We offer stone replacement – so if you’ve got a well-loved ring that’s missing a diamond, emerald, sapphire etc we can source another to match.
We can shorten chains/bracelets and replace clasps or jump rings, repair earring posts or even create a matching earring to one that’s been lost! Our goldsmiths can also re-string pearls or other beads such as Amber and Lapis. Pearls should be re-strung even 12 to 18 months to ensure that the silk is still secure and you don’t lose any.
Ring cleaning and re-plating
In addition, we offer a cleaning service for just £10, this brings your well-loved items up to look brand new and sparkling again. If required, we can re-plate using rhodium for any white gold jewellery that has lost its lustrous shine after wear. Generally, rings are re-plated every one to two years to keep them looking like new, this service is from £28 and will only take a day or two to do, therefore you won’t be separated from your rings for long!
What can I do with old or unwanted pieces?
It is lovely to receive pieces of jewellery passed down by loved ones through generations, however it is natural that you might not share the same style. The piece or pieces may be outdated or simply not to your taste and therefore unfortunately left gathering dust somewhere in your home. We can rejuvenate your jewellery, by re-designing and rescuing your heirloom to turn it into a loved piece for you to wear. It doesn’t have to be a total re-design it can simply be a few alterations to modernise the piece.
This service is also good if you have many ‘scrap’ or broken pieces – as they can be melted together to make something new. Unfortunately, through wear and tear chains can eventually break and if un-reparable these are great to add to rings or missing earrings. The fun part is deciding what to create from your previously loved items!
I’m worried about my ring setting?
Pop into our shop for a free check on any piece to ensure that your gemstones are secure and aren’t in need of any attention. With claw set stones it is good to have them checked over every six months just in case of they have had any knocks or bumps.
Engagement rings and wedding bands
If you’re thinking about engagement rings, we have many different designs and we can even offer a search and find service if you have something particular in mind. Our staff can also find styles and gemstones to help you create the ring yourself and make it individual. Otherwise we can find rings in the design you like from our suppliers and arrange for you to view them.
Wedding bands may need to match precisely with your shaped engagement ring. We have a wide range of shaped rings; however if they do not fit, we can find you a ring that sits well with yours. Alternatively, our goldsmiths can craft a new ring to match so that the rings sit together perfectly.
